Archive of the Institute

The IGM archive preserves the estate of Samuel Hahnemann (1755-1843), his second wife Mélanie, née d'Hervilly (1800-1878), and important students and successors, in particular Clemens (1785-1864) and Friedrich von Boenninghausen (1828-1910).

In addition to manuscripts and 55 patient journals, the 5,400 letters to Hahnemann from patients are particularly noteworthy. Boenninghausen's estate also includes approximately 150 patient journals. Through active collecting in recent years, the estates of other homeopathic doctors and many institutions, such as homeopathic lay associations, the German Central Association of Homeopathic Doctors and the International League of Homeopathic Doctors, have been added.

The written records of other patient associations for homeopathy and naturopathic treatments as well as patient files from medical practices have also been acquired. The archive thus houses the world's most important collection of sources on the history of homeopathy.

The IGM Archive database contains the catalogues of the estates of Wilhelm Ameke, Otto Freihofer, Gustav Groß, Samuel Hahnemann, Heinz Henne, Kurt Illing, Georg von Keller, Julius Mezger, Johanna Paede and Hans Ritter.
