Stuttgart Postgraduate Seminar in Medical History

The Stuttgart advanced training seminar takes place every year in spring. It is aimed at young researchers in the field of medical history and related disciplines. The topic is determined by the participants of the previous seminar. The final programme is designed by the Stuttgart Institute together with a preparatory group made up of participants from the previous seminar.

The training seminars are designed in such a way that the given topic is developed jointly by the group of participants. It is an interdisciplinary forum for young academics, whose central concerns are the exchange and discussion of the topic of the conference, primarily from a historical perspective. The focus is therefore on innovative methodological approaches, new questions and ideas and less on perfectly elaborated presentations. In this way, the conference also serves to network academics at an early stage of their careers.

The training seminar is funded by the Stuttgart Institute, which covers the costs of travel (2nd class train), meals and accommodation for all participants. As we are limited in terms of space and finances, we must ask for your understanding that if we receive more registrations than there are places available, a selection will be made.

The call for applications takes place in the autumn of the previous year and is publicised via the relevant distribution lists. Applications must be submitted by the beginning of the year with corresponding topic suggestions. Persons who are already habilitated are excluded.
